On this, the 100th year since the beginning of the Great War (World War 1), it's time to reflect (AND LEARN) from what happened:


Over the last number of years, we've often read / heard statements such as:


  • "Our soldiers went to war and bravely battled and died to save our country"
  • "We should remember those that died during the war, so we could be free,  as those brave men fought, and died for our freedom"

Well, lets accept that there were so many unfortunate deaths, but to cut to the chase, What exactly did they save our country from?, and what freedoms do we have as a result of their deaths?. Any answers to these questions would be greatly appreciated, and possibly, hotly debated.
